Julunggul

"One of the most beautiful myths was born in Australia, in several Aboriginal tribes, and features some small variations from tribe to tribe. These tribes respect snakes as they believe that a giant serpent shaped the world and controls its most precious natural resource, water.
Julunggul (also called Yurlunggur, Ungur, Wonungur, Galeru, Worombi, Langal, Ngalyod or Muit) is a deity of Australian Aboriginal mythology, the gigantic "Rainbow Serpent", worshiped as the creator and preserver of life, of fertility. Through its underground movement it created mountains and mountain ranges rise.
The greatest proof of its existence, according to the Aboriginal people, is the form of the rivers that would have arisen as it crawled on the earth. According to some stories, the deity emerged from an eye of water during Dream Time, or according to others, descended from the skies."
