Grootslang

"According to the legends, Grootslang is a primordial creature, older than the world. The gods, who were starting to create the things, didn’t know how to control their powers, and the first creature they created was Grootslang, a huge serpent with traces of elephant. 
Soon the gods noticed their mistake about creating a creature with such strength and intelligence. 
Realizing that the monster could bring catastrophic problems, the gods decided to split the creature in two, and so born the elephants and the snakes. But one Grootslang escaped and hid in a cave, where lives until nowadays, feeding mainly on elephants. They say the creature is in Richtersveld, South Africa."
